Summer Lounging {Balcony Update}

This past weekend was wonderful - so relaxing and wonderful to do absolutely nothing. We caught up with some good friends, ate some delicious food, and most of all, soaked up the hot summer weather.

Last time I checked in with you about the balcony, there was just a rug on the floor, and a foot stool with some pillows that I hadn't even shown you yet.

But, a couple of weeks ago, I added a chair, rearranged the shelving, and added some functional decor.

So far, this is a heavily IKEA inspired balcony - but I can't help it! I love their outdoor summer selection, and you can't beat the price. The side table is a footstool, but it works quite well as a side table. The chair is incredibly comfortable and, if you have multiple chairs, they stack for easy storage.

I also straightened up the shelves - adding a basket for miscellaneous items, a lantern from the Christmas Tree Shop, and a small glass vase for my gardening tools and herb scissors. The next time you see the balcony, there'll be a small table, the shovel will be gone (it's July, so I'm pretty sure we don't need it on hand right now) and that soil will be out of there.

And, since Nash has been stuck mostly inside - and not allowed to be running around outside in the grass - he's certainly been enjoying the balcony this weekend too.

Oh! And you might have noticed the pegboard behind the chair...

It's a chalkboard! It's a quick and easy DIY that I'll be sharing with you tomorrow! I love anything chalkboarded - especially because I love leaving cute love notes for Josh.

I am still on the look out for an inexpensive bistro table with chairs, and I'm hoping to find them in the next few weeks so that Josh and I can start enjoying dinner on our balcony. For now though, I'm pretty pumped about our current progress, and enjoying relaxing out there after work on warm summer nights.

Have you been enjoying your outdoor space lately? Adding some extra special touches? And did you survive the weekend heat? I'd love to hear from you!
