Recipe: 3-Step BBQ Steak Tips

The other night, Josh and I had the most delicious dinner of marinated steak tips. It was seriously to-die-for and it was seriously one of the easiest dinners ever. And I'm not kidding - all it took was a bottle of pre-made bbq sauce, and some steak tips (and rice and vidalia onion and corn on the side) and we had the perfect weekend meal.

About a month ago, I bought a family sized portion of steak tips, coated them with a sprinkle of cajun spice and deposited them into a freezer bag with enough bbq sauce to soak them in. I made sure there was no extra air in the bag, and I put it in the freezer to set.

Then, on Thursday night, I took them out of the freezer and put them into the refrigerator to thaw. On Friday afternoon, I took them out when I was ready to make them. I took the tips out of the bag and sliced them on a cutting board - this was a little messy and could have been avoided had I thought to cut them BEFORE I marinated them - and then dropped them into a pan with a little pre-heated olive oil.

I cooked them on medium-high heat for a few minutes on each side to get a beautifully done steak tip. I served it over a bed of rice with vidalia onion and next to some sweet summer corn on the cob!

This was delicious! And, if you didn't want to freeze it, you could easily marinate the steak tips for just a couple hours (or overnight) in order to get the bbq flavor that you want. And it really is easy as 1 (season), 2 (marinate), 3 (cook)! Do you love bbq sauce? This could just as easily be done with chicken, pork, or turkey - the possibilities are endless!
