Rainy Day Blues

So last week, I previewed this week's blog posts with talk of new DIY projects and recipes and then I didn't actually post about any DIY projects or any delicious recipes. I was a little under the weather this week and after a trip to the doctor on Wednesday evening, finally got some antibiotics and now I'm on my way to feeling great again. I am incredibly excited for this weekend and my first trip to a fabric store to pick up fabric to start making my first quilt! As one of the goals on my list for this year, I am so ready to dive into it. I'm still not entirely sure what pattern I'm going to use, but I've narrowed it down to a few and I'm eager to pick one that isn't too hard to get started. And then I have to choose colors - how am I supposed to choose from all of these beautiful colors???

I think I'm going to do something with a deep gray background to start, maybe with some purples and greens it as well, but who knows - I may get to the store and just go color and print crazy. Not too crazy though, as this will be my first quilt and we want to keep it simple. It will also be my first major sewing project. Ever. As in, when I was in Home Ec class in 7th grade, the most I learned how to do was sew in a straight line. So tomorrow, I am embarking on quite the adventure - buying some quilting materials (thank god for Walmart) and then also buying a sewing machine. This should be quite the eventful weekend and I am very much looking forward to sharing my progress with all of you as I move through the project.

Speaking of goals, I also plan on getting started on my 26 Soups this weekend and putting my crock pot to some good use. I will also be making a couple of delicious apple treats with step-by-step instructions and lots of pictures to come. So please, have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back here on Monday morning to share some fabric and culinary adventures with all of you!
