What Are You Reading This Summer?

Oh gosh, is it really only Thursday? I am so excited for the weekend and I feel as though the universe knows this and is making each day this week slower than the last! Does anyone else feel that way? No? Okay, on with today's summer reading awesomeness!

Keeping me busy when I'm not at work is the massive list of books I want to read this summer before I (fingers crossed) begin a teaching job this fall. I get most of my reading time in during my train commute and if I'm driving back and forth to school each day, I know that my reading time will be more limited. So, with the positive vibes of no train commute and teaching job in mind, here are the books on my summer reading list that I've already read:

I have been reading up a storm lately! I claimed my summer officially beginning in May - and as of last night, I'd read 20 books since May began, including Sweet Tooth, April's READ THIS! book, and I began Front of the Class, the first book in this image, last night.

Ever since I read the first 5 books of A Song of Fire and Ice last year, I've really widened my reading genre. From fantasy to adventure, nonfiction to dystopian, and romance to classic - I really am loving just about everything I've been reading. Of these, my favorites so far have been Divergent (which we'll talk more about later this month, since it's June's READ THIS! book), Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail, The Hobbit, Midwives, and The Newlyweds. In fact, I would recommend them all depending on the mood you're in. The only book I've read and didn't love was Treasure Island!!! by Sara Levine. Picked up on a whim solely because once I change my last name, we'll share a name, and learned that perhaps this is not the best way to choose a book. Oh well, you live and you learn.

Still to read this summer is quite a big list, but here are just a few of the ones I'm getting excited about:

Of these, I'm most excited to read Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil and Close to Shore, both non-fiction narratives (my favorite!) and one (Close to Shore) about the shark attacks on the Jersey Shore in 1916. I'm also super excited about Insurgent - the next book in the Divergent series, Boomerang - the follow up to Michael Lewis' The Big Short, and The Fault in Our Stars because John Green is seriously fantastic.

What books are on your summer reading list? Have you read any of these? What have you been reading lately that you think is a must read? I'm always looking to add more books to my "to-read" list! Don't forget - you can follow my book adventures by finding me on Goodreads through the sidebar Goodreads button!

And if you're looking for more summer reading essentials, make sure to check out last year's summer reading post with more of my favorites!
