Recipe Makeover: Oreo Chocolate Chip Brownie Bars

Good Morning and Happy Tuesday! I cannot believe that Tuesday is here already and that we are already more than halfway through September! One year ago this week, I put up my first introductory blog post - not having any idea where this journey would take me. Today, almost one year later, I am so grateful for the path that this blog has taken me on, everything that it has taught me and for everyone that it has allowed me to get to know. Just a few weeks after my first blog post, I shared a variation of this recipe. Then, when I made oreo bark in August, it gave me an idea for how to make this recipe a little bit better. So, without any further ado, I give you the new and improved Oreo Chocolate Chip Brownie Bars.

When I tell you these are beyond incredibly easy to make, I am not kidding around. You could make everything from scratch - which would take a bit more time - or you could do what I did and grab a few pre-made ingredients - mainly the cookie dough and brownie mix. I suppose you could also make homemade oreos, but if you do that, it might really be a bit too much effort for this deliciously simple treat. In order to make these the easy way, first, grab your ingredients...

Nestle Cookie Dough
25 Oreos
Brownie Mix
2 eggs
2/3 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
baking spray (not pictured)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray your 9x13 pan generously with baking spray.

Then, spread the cookie dough across the bottom of the pan.

Next, coarsely chop 25 oreos in a bowl and sprinkle them atop the cookie dough layer at the bottom of the pan.

Then, make the brownie mix, and pour it over the oreo layer, allowing it to sink into the nooks and crannies created by the chopped oreos.

Sorry, I got too excited about the brownie batter layer to hold the camera still.
Place this in the oven for 45-55 minutes. Remove, cool, and then cut into bars.

Then, because you can't wait just one more second, fill up a plate, grab a glass of milk and enjoy.

I brought these to Josh's parent's house for Erev Rosh Hashanah dinner and they were very much enjoyed. I promise that you can bring these to any event and they will be the hit of the party! I hope you all enjoy your Tuesday!

  1. I've made this without the chocolate chip cookie layer before and my boyfriend just about died of happiness. I think I'm going to have to sneak this variation in...I can only imagine what the reaction will be!
