Hitting the Ground Running

Good Morning and Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had an as wonderful and productive weekend as I did! This morning, I have some news to share with you! As of this morning, it is officially official - I will be running in my first 5K on Saturday, January 7th. Yes, it will be cold. Yes, there might be snow on the ground. Yes, I may absolutely regret registering and then committing to it - and sharing it with all of you. But, at the moment, I'm really excited. A little scared too, but mostly just excited.

This picture should give you some idea of how cold (and snowy) it has the potential to be:

Note: I have no idea who these people are. The picture came from here.
I've been thinking about signing up for a race for awhile and I want to sign up for a half marathon in May in Providence, RI. However, it was pointed out to me - by my loving boyfriend and some good friends - that maybe, maybe, I should actually participate in a few other (read: shorter) races prior to just waking up that first weekend in May and jumping into my first race. So, I did some googling and found the 3rd Annual 5K Resolution Run to Kick Cancer. For only $25, I registered online and I am all set to go! Well, except for that whole getting my running up to speed part. That part is going to take a bit more time than the 30 second registration process. But, I'm looking forward to hitting the gym, and taking some long outdoor runs with the pup, in order to get in shape for this race.

For those of you that also want to get involved, please visit their website to sign up to run, volunteer or donate - it really is a fantastic cause. And then, wish me luck (I'll need it!) as I start this beautiful Monday off with thoughts of running filling my head! I hope you all have a fabulous Monday and I will see you back here tomorrow with an awesome DIY gift idea!
