Birthday Goals in Review, Part 2.

Good Morning and Happy Friday everyone! Do you have some amazing weekend plans? Josh and I are looking forward to a fun-filled weekend beginning with my holiday party tonight! Then we plan on enjoying a productive weekend over the next couple of days. In the meantime, here we are - halfway through another Holiday season, likely eating too many cookies and finally starting to settle into some colder weather - just two months since my birthday and time to check-in again. I have to tell you, the progress isn't fantastic. BUT, there is progress. And, I've done a whole lot of other fantastic things in the past month - so I'm okay with where I am with this list today:

1. Make a quilt. Still a work in progress. Still trying to learn how use my sewing machine. Baby steps here, baby steps...

2. Attempt one "out of comfort zone" DIY project each month. 3 out of 12 projects complete! You can check them out here, here and here!

3. Go skydiving. (Full Disclosure: This was on my "25 before 25" bucket list. I'm hoping this time, I will actually face my fears.) Still on hold. But I will face this fear. If it kills me. Which it might actually do.

4. Become more financially stable: build up my savings and pay off my credit card. On my way!

5. Run 365 miles. I've decided to step up this goal and, as you saw in this post, I'm running a 5K at the beginning of January. Taking a step in the right direction!

6. Live passionately and spend more time celebrating life and how lucky I am to be where I am and how blessed I am to have Josh, as well as the most wonderful family and friends, in my life. I am so incredibly blessed for my family and friends. Life is wonderful.

7. Practice yoga more efficiently. I really need to start investing more time in working towards this goal. Maybe morning yoga? Hmm...

8. Learn Spanish. I just want to be able to do more than say Hola, Como esta?, Muy bien gracias, and Adios. Seriously, my ability to speak Spanish pretty much ends there. It's still on reserve and hasn't come in yet... apparently I'm not the only person trying to learn Spanish right now?

9. Make a conscience effort to not only make a weekly menu, but to actually stick to it. Last month was a HUGE success! We'll see how December goes...

10. Create a cookbook with all of my favorite recipes (and ones passed down from family) broken down into categories and indexed. I'm looking forward to putting this together. It should be an amazing project once I've completed it. I'm hoping to be able to combine recipes from both mine and Josh's families.

11. Learn how to cook 26 different soups. I can currently only cook 1 type of soup from scratch (and does using pre-made chicken stock really count as "from scratch"?) and while it is delicious and I could literally eat it every day, I would like to expand my repertoire. 2 out of 26 complete and you can check them out here and here! I'm loving this challenge!

12. Keep a meal diary with the hope that one day, this will turn into a lifelong practice and something that I simply do on instinct. How does anyone do this? I think maybe I have to keep a better method than a composition book in a drawer... Ooh - I just had a great idea! I will keep you all posted on it shortly!!! (Note: I might be a genius...)

13. Grow this blog by writing in it on an almost daily basis (Monday through Friday) and allow myself to enjoy the experience and to follow the journey that it takes me on, wherever it may lead. This is going along swimmingly, if I do say so myself! I've made some blog friends and I'm learning so much about the blogosphere - and I can't wait to learn even more!

As we get to the start of the new year, I will be keeping my resolution list very short - simply piggybacking on a few of the ones here - and I will be taking stock of all of the amazing things that I accomplished over the last 12 months. For now, I am looking forward to a fabulous next few weeks filled with time spent with family and friends while we enjoy this time of year together.

Have any of you created and stuck with a meal diary? Or a meal plan, for that matter? And how do you fit your workouts into your busy life? I'd love to hear from you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back here next week with some exciting new projects and (FINALLY!) a peek into our apartment (at least the finished, decorated parts)!
