So yesterday, I may have (read: definitely did) told you to tune in for some awesome canvas art this morning. Except that life sort of got in the way - that happens sometimes - and between dinner and Nash and the little issue of the fact that I hadn't slept more than 5 hours a night for the past couple of nights, I had to change it up. BUT, I don't think that you'll be disappointed. Instead of canvas art, I bring you map art:
One of my favorite pins to see on Pinterest is of framed maps in the shape of hearts. Usually, they're shown in sets of 3, with one for the place a couple met, one for where they married and one for where they honeymooned.
Since Josh and I aren't quite at that point yet, I decided to combine this idea with another one of my favorite pins, the design of your home state, or favorite state, on wood:
To combine them, I decided to make map art of our home states, in the shape of hearts. To start, I ordered maps of NJ and MA (Me and Josh, respectively) for about $5 each from Amazon. Then, I purchased paper (cardboard?) hearts from Michael's for $1.99, along with 2 frames, one for $6 and one for $9.99. Total project cost = $28, or $14 per piece. I'm definitely not upset about that. Here's a shot of the supplies:
Once I gathered my supplies, I opened up the maps to locate our home towns, and then set about tracing the heart keeping our towns at the center.

New Jersey had a weird crease on the side... |

For the record, we know how horrible the wall color is but we're really not sure we want to go through having to repaint them again before we move out. The woes of renting. |

This is super cute! I think you can really make this work in so many different ways. GOod work!
