Playing Catch-Up {One Little Word}

So... it's February 5th? As in, 1 month and 5 days into 2013? I've been so busy with so much over this past month that it makes me feel as though I've blinked - and here we are. In fact, I've been so busy, that I feel like I'm never quite ahead of the game, only playing catch-up.

I finished lesson planning for my first unit only two weeks into the start of my student teaching observations this January. I did this thinking it would get me ahead of the game. And, thankfully, it has. But somehow, this hasn't stopped me from falling behind in so many other things I'd like to do. I'm not ahead of the game in school work (not for student teaching, but for the 2 classes I'm taking), not blogging as frequently as I'd like, 6 weeks behind in Project Life (and at this point, the lack of pictures I took in January may get the month shrunk down to only 4 pages), reading much less frequently than I'd like, and .... the list goes on.

One month ago, I posted about my one little word for the year of 2013: Believe.

And so, I'm going to take time to re-focus my energy right now and channel it in a slightly more positive way. Instead of being dragged down by these things that I feel like I cannot do, I am going to believe in this process a bit more and focus on the things that I can do.

I knew that these next few months would be crazy, and they have been, but I believe in myself and I believe that I can make this work - without giving up all of the other things that I love - like cooking, blogging, and reading. I think that with some reorganization, and a little more believing, I can absolutely accomplish this - which is good because I have a huge stack of books that I'd love to sink into one of these days!

Have you been working on the One Little Word project for 2013? How is your word helping you to stay focused? I'd love to hear about it!
