Recipe: Weeknight Marinade

Did you have a fantastic weekend? I definitely did! I finished up so much work, got things done around the apartment (you don't even want to know how big that pile was), and spent some much needed time relaxing! Josh and I had an amazing dinner (and delicious wine) on Saturday night at an Italian restaurant near our place, and then on Sunday night we went to celebrate Hanukkah with Josh's parents and enjoyed an incredible meal (the best kugel EVER) and then, because his parents are the nicest people ever, they gave me the most gorgeous winter coat I have ever seen! Josh and I are so lucky to have them in our lives.

In non-weekend related news, last week, I made a delicious steak marinade. I needed something quick, because I was a little tired of barbecue sauce and because I knew I wanted something with more flavor than barbecue sauce could give me in only 20 minutes or so. And so, this awesome weeknight marinade was born.

First, you need to grab your ingredients...

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/4 worscestshire sauce
1/2 tsp pepper
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
1/2 tsp lemon zest
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp crushed red pepper
drizzle of honey (approx 1 tsp)
salt and pepper, to taste

Whisk the olive oil and worcestshire together, and then add the pepper, rosemary, lemon zest, garlic powder, crushed red pepper and honey (or, in other words, everything but the salt and pepper to taste) and whisk it all together.

Then, grab your steak tips, and season them generously with salt and pepper. Unless you like a little bit less of bold flavor, and then just season them lightly.

Put them in a large ziploc bag, and pour the marinade into it. Mix it up and place the bag into the refrigerator for 20 + minutes to marinate.

Saute it in a pan, and serve it with salad for a slightly healthy - and super delicious! - weeknight meal!

Do you have any go to favorites for fast marinades? Do you tend to stick to barbecue sauces, or other marinades? I'd love to hear what your favorites are! Have a happy Monday!
